Blog #13: Enchanted with ‘Twilight!’
First, let me just say, the Scars update will be late this week. I’m in the middle of a six day stretch at work, which means I’ve been so exhausted, I can barely form words enough to make conversation in day-to-day life, let alone be brilliant when it comes to what I commit to the page (I use ‘brilliant’ very loosely here). I have some time off starting on Wednesday, so expect a new update by Thursday at the latest.
The other reason I’ve been kind of negligent in my writing is because I’m totally enamoured with a book series I was introduced to recently, ‘Twilight,’ ‘New Moon,’ and ‘Eclipse,’ by Stephenie Meyer. If you haven’t read these amazing books yet, please do, because they make my stuff look like chicken scratches by comparison. I devoured the whole series in about 11 hours, because I just couldn’t put them down.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first read the synopsis of ‘Twilight’ online, but the person who sent it to me was wildly enthusiastic about it (it was part of a Secret Santa thing on an Orlando board I belong to), so I figured I’d give it a shot. The main male character is a vampire, so that’s what threw me, as I’m not normally into that type of thing. I was expecting a ‘Dracula’-esque horror novel, but what I got was a sweeping, epic romance with a bit of supernatural thrown in for good measure.
I’m telling you, I haven’t been so enraptured by a couple since Charlie and Orlando first appeared in my mind over two years ago (yes, it’s really been that long), and even then I didn’t think about them as much as I think about Bella and Edward. These two are absolutely splendid together, they compliment each other so well, and the tension Meyer incorporates (two kinds of tension, actually, one sexual, of course, and the other in wondering whether or not the vampire will actually end up killing/maiming his human girlfriend, like he seems to think he will) just makes my head spin and my heart pound.
The best part about these two is the conversations they get into, the deep angsty stuff that keeps you turning the pages so fast you’re surprised you’re not covered in paper cuts by the end. I don’t want to give too much away, but they have a similar experience to Charlie/Orlando/Adam in the second and third book (it actually shocked me how close the conflicts were at times, keeping in mind I had only recently read these books), and that makes me shiver just thinking about it. I was so into the conflict, I had tears pouring down my face without even realizing it.
Anyway, I strongly recommend everyone pick up these books and give them a go. I’m almost finished ‘Twilight’ for the second time in just over a week, and fully intend to finish the trilogy at least once more before I put it to rest for awhile. If you do decide to check them out, or have already, please let me know what you think.

I love this serie! A friend from Spain recommended it to me earlier last year, but I didn’t believe it wasn’t that good…
I still have to read “Eclipse”! I’m saving money
Well, I have to say that when I read that Robert Pattinson was taking the lead role in the movie, I said to myself “Why not?”. So I bought “Twilight” and I read it in less than a week (yeah I’m kind of slow with books). And next week, I bought “New Moon”
The relationship between Bella and Edward is just beautiful. I never thought I could cry so much while I read it, especially in the conversations between them. It’s so beautiful…I loved it!
I hope I can read the third one pretty soon
