Blog #3: The Future of the Charlie Madison Series…

I’ve had a few e-mails from people asking where my Charlie series went, since I removed it from this site yesterday, so I figured a little info was in order to appease those who miss the stories (all 6 of you…hehehe). Basically, as I said in my previous blog, I’ve been getting a little bit of static about my wish to publish Charlie’s stories, mainly because they’re about Orlando. So what I’ve decided to do is re-write them as original fiction, taking Orlando and his life out of the equation completely, and creating an original male character who will still bear Orlando’s physical likeness, etc… but will not actually be him, if that makes any sense. So you can still picture Orlando in your heads as you read, but he won’t go by that name anymore. The same goes for Adam in the 2nd and 3rd stories. Once the stories are re-written, I’ll re-post them in their updated form, and they’ll be available both on this site, and for sale on Amazon.com.

As for my new story, Some Scars Never Heal, I’ve decided to continue using Orlando’s name as I write it, and will overhaul it when it’s done, to change him to a fictional character. I’ll be using less direct references to his life in this story, since it’s set in 2008 and we haven’t got there yet, and since I know that I’ll be changing him later and leaving out details of his career will only make that process easier (I have a feeling I’m in for a bit of a struggle with Charlie’s series, since it is firmly entrenched in the details of Orlando’s life…).

Anyway, that’s where everything stands for the moment. I’m hoping to have Charlie’s series ready for publication by Christmas, but I want everyone to be aware that I will never, in hard copy, publish an Orlando story. The hassle from the fanfic community is too much, and though I don’t think there’s anything embarrassing in my work that would make him cringe if he read it (IE: NC-17 scenes), I’m going to err on the side of caution with this. So there will be some of my work coming to an online bookstore near you, but Orlando will be woefully absent from said publications.

Until then, I’ll be posting regular updates on Scars, starting with the next one tomorrow night. Thanks for reading, everyone, and don’t forget, comments are appreciated!
